Asclepius  is the god of medicine  and healing in ancient Greek mythology. The rod of Asclepius  (a snake-entwined staff), remains a symbol of medicine untill today. He was one of Apollo’s  sons. His name Ασκληπιός/asclepios means the man who converts  ασκελή»  (things without juise) to  « ήπια»(=calm, mild, soft)" . His wife Ηπιονη (Ipioni) represents the mildness in Medicine.
