Coined/History
By German physician Rudolf Virchow (1821-1905) who raised in a family of butchers and he was especially conscious of the possibilities of disease acquired from agricultural animals.  One of his major tasks was ensuring that pork was free of the parasite Trichinella, a problem he termed a “zoonosis.” 

Definition
Zoonosis is any infectious disease caused by by infectious agents that can be transmitted from non-human animals.
