+γεννώ/geno(= “produce”, “give birth to”, “create”) >γένεσις/genesis(=origin)
Coined/History 
The term “cryptogenic species” coined by Jim Carlton in 1996 and it refers to those species that cannot be demonstrably classified as native or introduced in a particular region.   Carlton wrote that “species that are neither clearly native nor exotic”

Definition
1. (ecology) cryptogenic species  is one which origin is unknown
2. (medicine) cryptogenic is a disease of unknown cause such as cryptogenic stroke in which classic risk factors are usually absent.
