Coined/History
Angiosperms appeared during Jurassic period (203-135
million years ago). The term was coined
by German botanist Paul Hermann (1646-1695) in 1690 including the class of Dicotyledones and
Monocotyledones.
Definition
Angiosperm is any
seed-bearing and flowering plant in which the ovules are enclosed in the ovary
which develops into the fruit after fertilization. Angiosperms, except flowers,
have true roots, stems and leaves and
consist bigger group than gymnosperms, the other seed plant group.
