neuro-> νεύρον/nevron(=neuron) > νευρά/nevra (=catgut)
> (νεαρόν/nearon (=young) because catgut
were made from intestines of young animals.

The term coined by Yves Barde and Ron Lindsay in
1985 as neurotrophic factors.
