Literally meaning: "the climate with life".
Origin: Anc Greek
βιο-/vio>bio-, combining form for “life” > βία/via(=rush)
κλίμα/clima(=climate) > κλείνειν/clinin(=to slope, to lean)
because of the slope of the earth from equator to pole
Coined/History
The term was coined in 1963 by architect Victor Olgyay1910 – 1970) in his book "Design with Climate” introducing the Bio-Climate Architecture concerning many factors as temperature, sunlight and humidity in buildings construction. Olgyay was Associate Professor in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Princeton University working on relationship between architecture, climate, energy and human activities.

Bioclimate is the climate regarding interrelation between climate and living organisms.
