Origin: An Greek Ίρις/Iris(=messenger of the gods, the personification of rainbow) à iris of the eye because of nany colors in human eyes.

Definition: The Circular, pigmented and contractile tissue lying behind the cornea which  controls the amount of light that enters into the eye and gives color to the eye.
