Origin: Anc Greek στίγμα/stigma(=mark, fleck, puncture)
>τέγγω/tego(=blotch, spot)  originally stigma was  a mark or brand on Greek slaves made on skin by burning with a hot iron, distinguishing them from free men.
Definition:
1.     (anatomy) a small spot or mark on the of an organ or organism.
2.     (botany) is the receptive tip of a carpel (part of the female reproductive part of a flower) which receives pollen at pollination.
3.     in the plural stigmata are  hemorrhagic lesions of the hands and/or feet, resembling crucifixion wounds.
