Definition
Desmin is a 52kD protein that is
subunit of intermediate filament found near the Z line in sarcomere of muscle.
It is encoded by DES gene mutations
of which cause myopathy myofibrillar type 1 (MFM1) or desmin-related myopathy
(DRM) .
