Coined: by the German scientist Heinrich Wilhelm Gottfried von Waldeyer-Hartz in 1891
Definition:
functional unit of the nervous system which consists of a cell body or soma, dendrites and axon. Neuron is a specialised cel responsible for information transmission in nervous system.
