ιστός / histos(=warp, web) > ίστημι/istimi(=to stand, to inhibit)
Coined/History
In 1896  German biochemist Ludwig Karl Martin Leonard Albrecht Αlbrecht Kossel(1853-1927) discovered and named histidine as it was initially thought that it was essential for tissue function especially in infants.
 
Definition
Histidine is an essential amino acid and precursor for neurotransmitter histamine which is involved in immune responses.
