Term: mosaic
Origin: An Greek Μούσα/Muse(=goddesses who inspire the creation of literature and the arts). In medieval Latin the term was used for the art of making a picture by small colored pieces on a surface resembling to the work of a Muse. The Greek word μουσείο/museio(=museum) has the same origin.
Definition:
1. (genetics) the occurrence in the same organism of two or more different genotypes. It is known also as mosaism.
2. (botany) A viral disease of plants, resulting to botany) A mosaic disease: a viral disease discoloration of leaves.
