δίκτυον/dictyon(=net)
+σώμα/soma(body) > σύμα/sima(=corpse). Homer (9th cen) reffered to word "σώμα" with the meaning of the corpse.
Coined
In 1910 by A Perroncito to denote the pieces into which the Golgi apparatus was divided during mitosis.

Definition:
1. organelle found in plant cells with a cup-shaped array of flattened membranous vesicles and functionally equivalent to the golgi apparatus of animal cells.
2.  net-like structure in the cytoplasm of animal cells. Several dictyosomes together consist the Golgi apparatus.
