Pompholyx is also known as dyshidrosis, a term coined by Tilbury Fox in 1873, w who believed that the eruption was caused by abnormal sweating.
Definition
Popholyx (or dyshidrotic eczema) is a skin diease characterised by an eruption of very itchy vesicles on the sides of the fingers and palms of the hands and occasionally on the feet and toes. The exact cause of pompholyx is unknown.
