In 1904 by British bacteriologist and immunologis Almroth Wright coined (1861–1947) who noticed a phagocytosis-promoting effect of serum bacause of some unknown substances.
Definition
An opsonin is any molecule that attaches an antigen enhancing phagocytosis.
