Acanthosis is a diffuse thickening epidermal
hyperplasia of stratum spinosum ( prickle cell layer) leading to a diffuse
thickening.
I am glad I found this. I am a classic major in undergrad now in med school, and sometimes I think I know exactly what a med word means based on its origin, but it ends up being very different!
