Coined/History
The term was coined by French physician Rene-Theophile-Hyacinthe Laennec (1781-1826) in his treatise “l’auscuescultations mediate” (1819) because the abnormal yellowish color of alcoholics with scarred livers .
Definition
Chirrosis is the late state of fibrosis in the liver caused mainly by chronic hepatitis and alcoholism which lead to loss of liver cells.
