The name was coined in 1758 by Linnaeus because of wings’ structure, as in many Hemiptera , the basal portion of the front wing is thickened to form awing cover and the apical portion in thin while the hind wings are membranous.

(zool) Hemiptera is an order of hexapod insects collectively known as bugs that are characterized by the mouth-parts and associate modifications of the head and sternum and in the wings.
