Origin: Anc Greek δέρμα/derma(=skin) + ίτις(modern Greek -ίτιδα) /itis(=suffix meaning inflammation of)
Definition:
Dermatitis is a general term concerned a number of different dermatological conditions. In many books the term is used synonymoysly with the term eczema. In a modern sence dermatitis is usually reffered to acute dermatological conditions and eczema for chronic diseases of the skin.
