> οιδάνω/edano(=swell)
>οίδα/eda(=see as edema is seen due to its size)  
The same root has the name of the mythical Greek king  in word Oedipus (Οἰδίπους Oidípous)  meaning "swollen-footed")
Definition:
Edema is an abnormal accumulation of fluid beneath the skin in the small cavities that surround the body tissues and organs.
